Bulk Gas Engineering Intern
Summer of 2021 worked in the Facilities Department at GlobalFoundries as a Bulk Gas Engineer. Monitored flow rates, tank and pipe pressure, tank fill levels, and gas contamination (H2O, O2). Analyzed moisture contamination and developed solutions to prevent moisture from going to manufacturing tools. Performed general maintenance and diagnostics on Argon, Helium, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Hydrogen systems. Also installed and calibrated various gas leak/contamination detection sensors and monitors.
Rep It Fitness Tracker
For technology based entrepreneurship class I worked in a team to create a device that tracked strength training progress. The device utilized an accelerometer and bluetooth capabilities to track sets, repetitions, weight, and time during a strength training workout and send the data to a smartphone. While we did not create the actual device, we created a model and physical prototype using CAD and 3D printing. We also created an advertising campaign and 3 year business model for the company.
Autonomous Etch-a-Sketch
Worked in a group to create an autonomous Etch-a-Sketch in Mechanical Engineering Design Course. The team created an app and autonomous device that took a JPEG input into a graphical user interface and drew the picture on the Etch-a-Sketch display via two stepper motors. I also designed a shaking device to clear the Etch-a-Sketch screen using CAD.
ACRP Design Project
My team worked on an innovative approach that looked to mitigate the spread of disease through crowded airports during the COVID-19 pandemic. We utilized uniform, downward airflow at high velocities to filter out air particles through vents in the floor. By controlling airflow such that a minimal amount of air is recirculated within any given area before suction into a filtration device within an HVAC system, the likelihood of disease spread is lowered.
